What Happened vs What is Happening
This is a question we've been asked a lot lately. So we wanted to give you some business perspective on how these two products enhance your AutoPower system.
The simple answer is that one reveals "what happened" and one tells you "what is happening". They both can work together to establish Better Business Performance Management.
Typically organizations have a collection of applications and tools that provide insight into business operations. These tools are used to gain insight into different business processes and functions and are most likely seen and used by different people based on their roll in the organization.
What Happened?
Informer - Reporting Environment for Operational Reporting
Informer is an interactive ad-hoc reporting environment that revolutionizes the way AutoPower users can access detailed data in your AutoPower System. Informer allows user specific reporting that helps them better understand operational day-to-day details.
Informer takes the technical query language and the data in the AutoPower system and brings it into a user friendly non-technical environment. It allows virtually anyone in your organization to create highly-targeted reports to address specific business or operational questions or processes.
Basically, with Informer people at all level in your organization can tackle daily problems and opportunities without having to wait on some IT guy or AutoPower to create a report to answer their questions.
General ad-hoc reporting tools like Informer can help dig deeper into the details of trends and anomalies uncovered by a business intelligence tool like Discover. As questions and issues are raised, ad-hoc reporting tools perform deep dive analysis and help companies determine root causes and opportunities for action.
What is Happening?
Discover - Business Intelligence for Analytical Reporting
Discover gives business managers and owners the power to achieve fast drill down into summarized data. Typically the analytically reporting is in a focused area like "sales" and is used for tactical planning, monitoring and discovery. A good example would be seeing a key performance factor like your profits drop while overall sales have increased. Discover would give you first the indication that profits dropped and then the ability to drill-down into the reasons. Discover offers instant trending evaluations and gives you insights to solve typical business issues like:
> Visibility into the health of the business
> Cost reduction through process improvement
> Responsiveness to changing competitive, customer, and supplier conditions
> Customer retention
> Risk management
> Product customization opportunities
Business Intelligence tools are not architected to iterate on new scenarios or for immediate response to unanticipated questions because they are typically set up to automate and distribute reports that monitor pre-determined key performance metrics and planning assumptions. Every business should have Business Intelligence technology because this tool makes visible issues that affect the root financial health of a company.
